The course provides information on the prevention and promotion of health, indications and contraindications to physical activity, deepen social and psychological aspects and those affecting the quality of life. The practical part of the course provides the specific information needed to be able to deal with the planning and development of motor sport sessions with competence.
The aim of the course is to study the methodological path of motor activities with its peculiarities during senescence, and correlate it to:
- the paraphysiological state of fragility of elderly people,
- post-pneumatic functional residues, motor skills residual post-disease (neurological, motor, dismetabolic), cognitive and learning skills of the subject,
- design the possible motor path for each disability category of the elderly.
The aim of the course will be to provide the student with the theoretical and technical-operational knowledge of basic motor activity for maintaining the autonomy of the elderly person, also through sports. The latter is understood as any physical activity that has as objective the improvement of the physical and mental condition, the development of social relationships and the improvement of the quality of life. The teaching will have to make students acquire the ability to program an individual and group protocol, both in the gym and in the natural environment, taking into account the psychomotor, social, environmental and relational aspects of the age itself and to promote the activity movement as a primary element in the prevention and conservation of health and autonomy.
At the end of the course, the student will: - know the theories of aging, the social aspects related to the practice of physical activity in elderly, the national and international directives on the application of programs of physical activity adapted to the elderly; - be able to evaluate and describe the motor condition of the elderly in order to propose interventions aimed at participating in adapted physical activity programs; - be able to design sustainable training periods.
Theoretical lessons (10 hours) and practical lessons (40 hours). During the lessons, in addition to conventional teaching methodologies, innovative teaching techniques will be used.
Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes
