AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching aims to provide processing tools and scientific knowledge for planning training programs in individual sports disciplines and team sports with focus to the development of the athlete in both youth and adult levels.

At the end of the course, you will have to:

- To know the principles of periodization and training programming regarding sports performance.

- To apply the various types of periodization according to sport.

- To know how to plan training for the different periods of the competitive season.

- To know how to structure annual and multi-year training programmes for individual endurance and power sports.

- To create training plans, according to competitive level, in team sports.

- Draw up strength training plans.

TEACHING METHODS

The course includes a subdivision of lessons as follows: frontal lessons with the aid of computer presentations and multimedia supports.
Group and individual work will also be practiced, with interaction, comparison and discussion on the merits of the proposals put forward by the different groups.

In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, please contact both the Department contact person, Prof. Nicola Girtler, and the lecturer at the beginning of the lectures to agree on teaching and exam methods which, in compliance of the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory/dispensatory tools recognized by the University SLD Student Service.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Introduction to training planning and periodisation: The basic principles of periodisation. Differences between planning and periodization. Training units - Session - Microcycle - Mesocycle - Macrocycle. Single annual periodisation - Double periodisation - Triple periodisation.
Planning and Periodization in endurance disciplines: Basic principles of endurance periodisation. The Block Periodization. The polarised periodisation model. The threshold-based periodisation model. The training session and the competition day. The training session in the days immediately preceding the competition. EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The examination will be oral: using a power point presentation

This teaching is part of the integrated course ‘Biological and biomechanical aspects of sports performance 2’. For this reason, the examination for this teaching module must be taken together with the other 2 teaching modules on the same call date.

Oral examination that will focus, separately, on the topics of the syllabus in order to test knowledge of the content covered as described in the syllabus. The oral test will take the form of a power point presentation of an annual training plan concerning a sport of the student's choice. The presentation must be sent to the lecturer at least one week before the examination.

This part of the examination will be considered passed with a mark of 18/30.

The examination of the integrated course will be considered passed if all three papers have achieved a mark of at least 18/30.

The final mark for the integrated course will be derived from the weighted average of the three individual scores

For cases with certification of DSA, disability or other special educational needs, the University's rules and regulations on disability and DSA apply (https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa/studenti-disabilit%C3%A0-normativa).

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The examination will take place via a power point presentation that will test the acquisition of basic teaching knowledge. The questions will assess the knowledge acquired in both the theoretical and practical areas of training programming. The oral examination will focus on the topic proposed by the student in the power point presentation.
