OVERVIEW

The lessons will deal with the various Paralympic disciplines and the main pathological conditions, as well as the sporting regulations.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching module concerns the sporting activity of disabled people which is studied from the point of view of basic sensorimotor functions and from the point of view of the specific training methodologies and techniques of Paralympic sports.

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lessons.

Lectures with slides.

Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), disabilities, or other educational needs are invited to contact the instructor and the School/Department disability coordinator at the beginning of the course to agree on any teaching methods that, while respecting the course objectives, take individual learning styles into account.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Paralympics

Permitted impairments, with particular reference to motor disorders and especially to upper motor neuron syndrome.

Positive signs of upper motor neuron syndrome

Doping in Paralympic athletes

RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

The slides used in class will be given to the students and will constitute the reference teaching material.
