Confering depth to those questions that shed light on the nature of the human being and whose answers are tied to conceptual analysis, sound arguments and mental experiments, in order to clarify current issues. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES - to understand the categories of sex and gender, as well as how they are confused in ordinary language; - to clarify the debate about essentialism; - to distinguish between subjects and objects of knowledge; - to discern the types of knowledge, with a view to giving priority to personal knowledge; At the end of the course, students will be able to: Master a rigorous methodology to deal with major issues in contemporary problems of sexuality. PREREQUISITES None TEACHING METHODS Lectures SYLLABUS/CONTENT Program for those who use teaching for 6 credits Students will have to face the main themes, through analysis and examination, of the philosophy of sexuality. Students will have to be able to examine the problem of the sex/gender dualism. Program for those who use teaching for 9 credits Students will have to face the main themes, through analysis and examination, of the philosophy of sexuality. Students will need to be able to examine the issue of sex/gender. During the course the most relevant themes of the contemporary philosophy of sexuality will be examined, in connection with the philosophy of knowledge, and students will have to be able to deal with them. A particular relevance will be given to feminist epistemologies. As far as epistemology is concerned, Descartes will be read, showing why the feminist criticisms addressed to him are wrong.
