The aim of the course is the one to confer elementary skills connected with the relations between the microstructure and the chemical-physical and mechanical performance of a material and its resistance to corrosion and degradation, according to the principles of the science and technology of the materials. Finally attention will be paid to the design of the material and to its selection, also based on economic criteria.
The course aims to make student aware of the relationship between microstructural characteristics and functional properties of a material. Acquire knowledge aimed at identifying the types of tests necessary to evaluate the suitability of a material for carrying out a specific function
The aim of the course is to give to the student basic skills on the microstructural and mechanical properties of materials.
The student will acquire the ability to identify which materials are suitable in a given process and which treatments improve their characteristics and extend their life time.
