Chromatographic techniques and principles of mass spectrometry. Gas liquid chromatography – mass spectrometry. Validation of a chromatographic method Application of chromatographic methods in the biomedical laboratory. Understanding chromatographic separation. Know how to evaluate chromatographic resolution. Know how to distinguish the various types of chromatographic techniques Understanding the use of the HPLC technique. understand the choice and use of various detection systems in chromatography. Acquisition of the concept of external standard and internal standard Provide the ability to apply the chromatographic technique. Provide the relative theoretical bases of chemical-physical of fluorochromes and their interaction with light (principles of Optics). Ability to choose and use the correct fluorochrome and its application in multiparametric flow cytometry.
The Chromatography module proposes the study of the fundamental principles of the technique and of the detection systems. The attention is focused on Mass Spectrometry, Gas Chromatography, techniques widely used in work activities. The basic principles provided will facilitate the internships by introducing the student to the working world.
In particular: Provide the theoretical foundations related to Chromatography and Chromatographic Techniques and Detection Systems To acquire the fundamental principles of Mass Spectrometry, Gas Chromatography and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry, Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry To make known the lines of the Validation Procedure of a chromatographic method Know the main applications of chromatographic methods in the biomedical laboratory Provide the ability to perform HPLC chromatographic analysis methods
Therefore the student will have to acquire the basic concepts of the functioning of chromatographic techniques in order to be able to autonomously evaluate how to apply them to assist in the clinical diagnosis of specific pathologies
Frontal lessons in the classroom with projected slide presentations and simulation of practical applications.
Introduction to Chromatography Matter and substances States of aggregation of matter and changes of state Classification of chromatographic techniques Gas chromatography and detectors HPLC and detectors Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry Quantitative methods in chromatography Validation of a chromatographic method Applications of chromatographic methods in the biomedical laboratory
We propose the study of what is reported in the slides presented and discussed.

The exam can take place in oral form through discussion of all the topics covered or in written form as a multiple choice test
The evaluation of the student will focus on the assessment of the knowledge transmitted through the lessons and on the ability to link the application of the techniques to the diagnosis of pathologies
