The course in “Ship Drawing”, divided into the modules of “Ship Technical Drawing” and “Ship Geometry”, introduces students to the tools and methods for the technical representation of the structural and functional elements of a ship, supporting the subsequent stages of the design process and thus serving as a foundational subject in the education of the naval engineer.
The “Ship Technical Drawing” module illustrates the use of technical drawing in the industrial field and in particular in the naval and mechanical industries. It is the language that engineers use in order to define, detail and communicate their design and manufacturing choices. In accordance with its rules, defined by standardized conventions and methods of graphic representation, technical drawings contain manufacturing and testing information of machines and related mechanical components.
The course provides students with tools for the graphic representation of the ship and its elements, in order to allow its design, construction and maintenance.
Basic knowledge of how a computer works and of Windows® operating system is required.

The final grade for the exam is based on the results of the two constituent modules. Specifically, it is calculated as the average of the two module grades, rounded up. Honors ('cum laude') are awarded if the highest grade is achieved in both modules and at least one of them has received honors.
The assessment criteria for the course are defined by the examination methods of its two constituent modules.
