OVERVIEW

The course is focused on the methods for the qualitative analysis of pharmaceutically active inorganic and organic compounds. The different techniques will be presented by theoretical classes as well as practice sessions in the laboratory.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide the theoretical notions and practical skills related to the main techniques of qualitative analysis of pharmaceutical interest substances. The course includes practical laboratory exercises.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide the theoretical knowledge and the technical skills on the most relevant methods used for the qualitative analysis of a pharmaceutically relevant compound. At the end of the course, the student will be familiar with the different tests used for the chemical identification of the compounds and will be able to critically analyze the experimental results.

PREREQUISITES

Organic and inorganic chemistry

TEACHING METHODS

Lessons and laboratory exercises.

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department ( Prof. Luca Raiteri, Luca.Raiteri@unige.it ) before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific learning methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. VERY IMPORTANT: any request for compensatory tools and adaptations in the exam MUST be done within 10 working days before the date of the exam according to the instructions that can be found at https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa/comunicazioni
