AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

In the first part of the course provides basic knowledge on applied thermodynamics. Introduced the first and second law of thermodynamics, thermodynamic diagrams for gases and vapors; direct and inverse thermodynamic cycles; .principles of air conditioning.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

On the basis of the objectives indicated above, at the end of the module the student will be able to operate on thermodynamic cycles critically, representing them on the classical diagrams and he will also be able to evaluate and compare the various system solutions and the consequent energy performance.

These objectives will be achieved with theoretical lessons combined with numerical applications carried out during the exercises and the latter representing engineering scenarios present in the activity of the mechanical engineer.

From the hierarchical point of view learning starting from a scale of basic complexity (remembering, understanding) and it will move towards higher complexities such as solving, judging and proposing engineering solutions.

TEACHING METHODS

The didactic innovation project adopted by the Degree Course in Mechanical Engineering, innovative tools will be used for active student learning. The aim is to increase students' skills through new learning methodologies, from e-learning to team work, through experiences that increase student participation through a higher communicative level and make the student more aware and autonomous.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

First part: Thermodynamics: 1st and 2nd  law of thermodynamics open or closed systems (volume control). Energy conversion processes direct and inverse. Refrigeration equipment.
One-dimensional thermal fluid dynamics: Bernoulli's equation. Fluid flow in pipes: calculation of pressure drops, and Moody diagram. Thermodynamics of moist air: psychrometric quantities. EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam includes a written exam, after which (positive result) you can access the oral exam. It is possible to sit separately the tests (written and oral) of the two modules (72374 and 72373).

There are also partial written tests for both modules (72374 and 72373). If the partial test of module 73374 is not passed successfully, the exam can be taken only upon completion of the lessons of both modules (therefore from June onwards).
Students with SLD, with disabilities, or with other regularly certified special educational needs will agree with the teacher on the exam method and the compensatory instruments, by contacting the instructor at least 10 days before the exam. They will also be able to take advantage of the additional time required by law.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

written and oral

For disabled students and students with SLD, it is possible to request the application of art. 29 paragraph 4 of the University Didactic Regulations
