OVERVIEW

This subject aims to provide basic elements of electrical circuit theory and to introduce

to introduce the basic notions of descriptive statistics and probability, necessary to be able to make statistical inference.

 

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The goal of the course is to provide knowledge in two fields. 1) The course provides the basic knowldge to analyze linear time-invariant circuits (transitory and steady-state analysis), by using the fundamental tools of the circuit theory. Moreover, the course provides knowledge to use the tools of mathematics, physics, and geometry indispensable in the analysis of circuits. 2) The course provides knowledge to understand the basic definitions of statistics and probability, to understand the difference between a deterministic and statistical approach, to understand the notion of a random variable and to be able to use probability to pass from descriptive statistics to analysis. data through inferential statistics. The student acquires knowldge to build simple statistical-probabilistic models (possibly adapting classical schemes) and discuss the results given by the models

PREREQUISITES

Basic concepts of mathematics and physics: derivatives and integrals of real functions; elementary linear differential equations; vectors, matrices, systems of algebraic equations; complex numbers; power and energy.
