OVERVIEW

The course is structured in two modules. In the first module, the processes for the production of fuels and materials are described and discussed. In the second module, chemical and biochemical processes and plants for energy production are described and discussed.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide an in-depth knowledge of the main industrial chemistry processes related to the production of energy, the production of fuels and biofuels (bioethanol, biodiesel, green diesel, bioils and biogas), the production of materials (metals, semiconductors, polymers), the processes of green chemistry and for the reduction of environmental impact.

PREREQUISITES

A relatively in-depth knowledge of basic chemistry, physics and mathematics is required.

TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Two tests are held, one for each module, as indicated for the modules themselves.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The students' ability to critically discuss the characteristics of the fuels and materials used at an industrial level and the chemical and biochemical processes necessary to produce them will be verified. It will be possible to evaluate the student's knowledge and depth of understanding of the chemical, biochemical, energetic, economic, and environmental aspects of chemical technologies associated with the development of energy technologies.
