The course also provides a deepest insight on design problems and specific knowlegdge on boat components functionality. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The teaching consists of a theoretical part and a laboratory part with weekly checks and revisions. The educational objective of the course is to provide the student with the basic tools to tackle the design of a pleasure boat or a cruise ship or similar (ferry) motor/sailing and to develop the design of the subsets that compose it (urban planning, deck plans, interior layout and decor) The first part of the teaching is based on market research, comparison and choice of reference boats/ships. In the second part, the design of the layout, general plans and sections begins; in this part, three-dimensional modeling can be used as an aid to composition. In the third part, the general plans are completed, the interior layout is explored in depth and the hull, deck and superstructure are modeled in 3D. The expected results are an advanced understanding of the fundamentals of nautical design and the development of the ability to set up the project of a vessel/ship, inserting it into the portion of the market of its competence, and to develop the general plans that allow the exhaustive description of the same. TEACHING METHODS Teaching is carried out through lectures by the teacher, guided exercises and project laboratory in the classroom. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The main topics covered can be summarized in two macro themes: the general principles of design and the specificities of naval and nautical design. UNDERSTANDING 3D SPACE; THE DESIGN SPIRAL; MORPHOLOGICAL and TYPOLOGICAL ANALYSIS; INTRO TO DESIGN BOATS/SHIPS; SKETCHES, DRAWINGS, CONCEPT DESIGN; COMPOSITION OF VOLUMES; GEOMETRIC PARTS OF THE BOAT; INTERNAL DISTRIBUTION AND ORGANIZATION OF SPACES; PRINCIPLES OF ERGONOMICS; ON-BOARD ENVIRONMENTS, INTERIOR MATERIALS AND DECOR. The oral part consists of a dissertation of the project. ASSESSMENT METHODS The evaluation of the design part consists in the overall examination of the documents, in the coherence between the initial requirements and the proposed project, in the graphics of the general plans. The oral discussion of the project allows to evaluate the expressive and motivational skills of the candidate. The evaluation of the student is carried out during the oral exam and is based on the ability to describe autonomously, with coherence and propriety of terms the topics and demonstrations presented in class The attribution of the grade will take into account: Knowledge of the topics covered, Ability to present, Ability to solve problems of the project Exam schedule Data appello Orario Luogo Degree type Note 17/01/2025 10:00 LA SPEZIA Orale 14/02/2025 10:00 LA SPEZIA Orale 13/06/2025 10:00 LA SPEZIA Orale 04/07/2025 10:00 LA SPEZIA Orale 05/09/2025 10:00 LA SPEZIA Orale Agenda 2030 - Sustainable Development Goals Industry, innovation and infrastructure Responbile consumption and production Life below water
