The course focuses on the development of concepts for sailing and motor boats with a particular focus on internal and external design and ergonomic elements and introduces the student to new methodologies for approaching design.
The unit provides students with the instuments and method needed to approach saling and motor yachts interior/exterior design.
Constant Activity and exchange in the classroom with the entire study group will allow the student to learn new tools to:
Analyze design in general (nautical and non-nautical) and read its form and function
Study and apply the basic concepts of technical drawing representation
Study, assimilate and start using nautical terms
Analyze and apply concepts of ergonomics and space distribution (interior/exterior) in order to maintain the correct volume/form/function ratio
Analyze and apply concepts of verbal and graphic communication in order to best present one's work
Being a master's degree, the student must have acquired the following knowledge necessary to best face the course themes:
Knowledge of the nautical world (sailing/motor)
Knowledge of the software: Autocad 2D
Knowledge of the software: Rhinoceros 3D
Knowledge of any software for rendering
Knowledge of any software for layout and printing
Theory lessons
Exercise activities for the final exam project evolution
Students group building depending on the total number of students
Classroom Design and Review on each group final exam projects
Theoretical lessons:
Nautical Terminology
How to approach Market Analysis
Ergonomics and Technical Drawing
Design and Contamination
Project Representation and Communication
2D/3D design of two nautical projects, sail and motor, of the same size, united by design details that identify their inspirations and formal and stylistic characteristics
Design of the graphic communication part of the project through technical drawings, renderings, presentation brochures
Yacht Magazines
Interior Yacht Design (Grgic, Lanz)
Design Nautico (Spadolini)
Progettare imbarcazioni accessibili (Ferrari)

PROJECT BROCHURE: delivery of a digital book in pdf format with the complete development of the course and a paper book in A5 format with the final sail and motor projects
TECHNICAL DRAWINGS PRINTED: delivery of the technical tables (general plan, plans, elevations, cross-sections and longitudinal sections) relating to the sail and motor concepts in an adequate scale (1:50) and correct representation (technical drawing) in order to analyze the projects in detail
In fase d'esame verranno valutate:
la reale partecipazione alle lezioni e alle revisioni,
lo scambio di opinioni con il proprio gruppo di studio e con la classe intera mediante dibattito in aula,
correttezza e chiarezza dei disegni tecnici di progetto,
completezza del processo di progettazione totale delle due imbarcazioni,
complessità di analisi e di ricerca iniziali propedeutice alla progettazione dei due concept,
padronanza della corretta terminologia nautica per la presentazione del progetto
