A complex 12 credits course, which includes 4 classes: Russian-theory; LSP translation; Translation editing; Interpreting.
There is one program and the same exam for both attending and not attending student. We suggest sudents to attend all the lessons they can (this makes a significant difference). In case of impossibility, contact the teachers to decide how to organize the study and training process of each part of the program
The course aims to develop knowledge of Russian at both declarative and procedural level, particularly improving students' abilities in bilingualism, bilingual switching, LSP translation, consecutive & liaison interpreting. Students will be also provided by self-training techniques.
The course aims to improve students' ablities in bilingual performances, including written LSP translation and consecutive interpreting.
C1/B2 level in Russian
All parts of the course uses different teachings methods based on recent neurolinguistic and psycholinguistic data
The theoretical course is focused on the process of "re-selftranslation" aimed to transform an "amatorial" translation of a high level complex text into an "academic" translaltion consistent to a theroetical scientific model (cf. Salmon 2017). The corpus includes all the translations of S. Dovlatov's literary works into Italian published from 1990 to nowadays by the Publishing house Sellerio (Palermo). Each student will work on a specific text, following the procedure applied during the class lessons with the teacher
The bibliography includes all the translations and re-selftranslations of Dovlatov's works published by Sellerio (Palermo) with the ST in Russian (in open access)
Ricevimento: During the first semester, students can meet Prof. Laura Salmon in her office (Piazza Santa Sabina 2, 2 fl.) on Tue 12.30-14.00, or have individual distance meetings in Teams (use the Teams chat to contact Prof. Salmon and agree with her an available time). The student hour time in the second semester can change on the basis of the new schedule.

RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND TRANSLATION I
The final exam includes 5 tests:
Theoretical course: written paper under supervision of the teacher: analysis and arguments for a project of re-translations of "amatorial" into "academic" TT
LSP translation: 3) written translation into Russian (1 hour, no dictionaries), the content is strictly consistent with the class training.
Translation editing: 4) written translation into Russian (1 hour, no dictionaries), the content is strictly consistent with the class training.
Interpreting: 5) interpreting performance (simulation) in consecutive translation from Russian into Italian (max. 10 minuts), the content is strictly consistent with the class training.
The test (30 min for each language) is based on a short dialogic text to be formulated into two foreign languages (no dictionaries)
Students certified with SLD, disabilities or other special education needs are advised to contact the instructor at the beginning of the course, in order to agree on teaching and exam methods that, in compliance with the course learning outcomes, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory tools.
