Italian linguistics deals with the structures of language, uses and functions of the language, with reference to the model of geographical, social, situational and communicative varieties. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The aim of the course is the scientific study of the Italian language, mainly but not only contemporary, in its geographical, social and situational varieties, with reference to the structures, functions and linguistic uses. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course, the student will be able to: - describe the architecture of the varieties of contemporary Italian - identify and recognise the distinctive features of each variety of Italian - analyse written and oral productions in Italian from a variational perspective - adapt their communication to the context, improving their functional alphabetic competence PREREQUISITES None TEACHING METHODS Lectures will take place in presence (36 hours) with the aid of teaching materials created by the lecturer, iconographic, audio and video sources. Oral examination (all the other exam appeals). ASSESSMENT METHODS The first exam (January 2025) is written: the written exam consists of a closed-ended test (multiple choice) + an open question on the topics covered by the teaching programme. The exam ascertains mastery of the teaching content and knowledge of the bibliography specific to the written exam. The test may be computer-based. All subsequent examinations (from January 2025 onwards) are oral: the oral examination consists of an interview on the topics covered in the syllabus. The examination ascertains mastery of the teaching content and knowledge of the specific bibliography for the oral examination. An intermediate written test consisting of a multiple choice test may be scheduled. L-11), 'Languages for Business' curriculum (n.o. 270). EUROPEAN MOBILITY students can take the Italian Linguistics exam only if they have "Linguistica italiana" (Italian Linguistics, Linguistique italienne, Italienische Sprachwissenschaft) in their Learning Agreement.
