The teaching of Orthodontics has as its objective the acquisition by the student of the ability to recognize, distinguish and classify dysgnathic clinical cases, acquire knowledge on the evaluation of the OPT, of other radiographs performed for diagnostic purposes in the orthodontic check-up and on cephalometric tracing, knowing the principles of growth and development of the stomatognathic system, knowing how to perform a diagnostic analysis of malocclusions
Know the characteristics and classifications of orthodontic materials
Learn to conduct a complete clinical orthodontic examination (anamnesis, medical record, assessment of both the general and orthodontic dental situation)
Knowing how to identify which diagnostic tests should be prescribed to carry out a correct orthodontic diagnosis (X-rays, instrumental tests, specialist visits by ENT doctors, ophthalmologists, paediatricians, orthopaedists)
Know how to carry out a correct orthodontic diagnostic classification.
Knowing how to evaluate the correct timing to intervene with orthodontic treatment, with particular attention to interceptive treatment in pediatric age.
