AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will acquire the necessary reading tools to interpret the transformations and dynamics of the landscape - the ecological, social and economic processes underway, the underlying rules that have guided its evolution - and will develop the ability to reinterpret them, with creativity and foresight, as possible and unprecedented forms of coexistence between people and nature.

TEACHING METHODS

The course consists of theoretical lectures, seminars and site visits to support the design exercise; the latter will be conducted by groups of two or more students and its progress will be evaluated in the form of discussions and reviews with the lecturer.

Students who have a valid certification of physical or learning disabilities on file with the University and who wish to discuss possible accommodations or other circumstances regarding lectures, coursework and exams, should speak both with the teacher and with the Department of Architecture and Design's disability referent (https://architettura.unige.it/commissioni_e_referenti_dipartimento)

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course contents concern the tools needed to decipher the specificity of a place, to prefigure ecological and social processes capable of emphasising complexity and differences, to give shape to the empty spaces between buildings, parks, gardens, streets, squares, all those disused residual areas that, today, the environmental emergency requires us to rethink as new forms of naturalness, sociality, identity,
