Understand medical terminology and classifications know the difference between etiology and risk factors, know how patients are examined, know how to program diet therapies in cardiovascular diseases, in kidney diseases and gastroenterological diseases.. Knowledge of Physiopathology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and therapy of acute and chronic forms of: ischemic heart disease, heart failure, valvulopathy, hyper and hypocintic arrhythmias. -Provide students with basic knowledge of ischemic heart disease (especially acute coronary syndromes), valvulopathy. Heart failure, arrhythmias. -Provide students with a general understanding of how to cope with cardiovascular risk factors, how to prevent the onset of ischemic heart disease and heart failure, how to manage a patient with arrhythmias or valvulopathies. -introduce prevention and management issues for the main forms of heart disease. -to enable students to acquire knowledge of the main cardiovascular diseases and to develop in students the ability to teach patients how to prevent the occurrence of ischemic heart disease and heart failure by increasing control of risk factors and physical activity.
know: the main notions on pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and therapy of cardiological pathologies
recognize: subjects with increased risk of developing pathologies of the cardiovascular system, to recognize the cardiological pathologies in place that need timely diagnosis and therapy
apply: the notions received to carry out adequate cardiovascular prevention and recognize cardiological pathologies in place or previous
critically assess: the cardiovascular risk profile of a subject, the clinical manifestations in case of cardiovascular pathology, make a thorough differential diagnosis
distinguish: between typical and atypical symptoms of cardiovascular diseases
compare: symptoms presented by the patient, make diagnosis and set therapy
classify: acute coronary syndromes (STEMI; NSTEMI; unstable angina), various arrhythmias, various forms of heart failure
design: cardiovascular prevention strategies and be able to set differential diagnosis and appropriate therapies
describe analytically: how a subject with increased cardiovascular risk profile or with a cardiological pathology in action or previous
explain: what is cardiovascular prevention and what are the modes of onset of acute coronary syndromes, heart failure with preserved or reduced ejection fraction, arrhythmias with hemodynamic impact
infer: in the presence of the symptoms what are the main causes of the same and formulate the diagnostic hypotheses
frontal lessons
Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.
ischemic heart disease: cardiovascular risk factors, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations , diagnosis and therapy of various forms of acute and chronic ischemic heart disease
Heart failure: classification of various forms, causes, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and therapy
Arrhythmia: hyper and hypokinetic arrhythmias, clinical manifestations, diagnosis and therapy
Valvulopathy: clinical manifestations, diagnosis and therapy of various forms
handouts that I provide to students
Ricevimento: At the first lesson the teacher provides the email and the mobile phone to the students in order to be available for any clarification and in-depth analysis of the topics covered in class.

oral exam
1: with the questions I aim to verify that the students have learned the concepts of pathophysiology of cardiovascular diseases, that they know the clinical manifestations and the main diagnostic and therapeutic strategies of the various pathologies
2: the first question is of a general subject, the following are more specific in order to allow to verify the knowledge but also the ability' to range from one topic to another and the capacity' of clinical deduction
