OVERVIEW

The teaching aims to provide the knowledge and tools that relates to Pediatric Nutrition Education, the profession of the Dietitian and the skills in building projects of Food Education and prevention with practical theoretical paths applied to specific realities.

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students must have knowledge in relation to: construction and planning of projects dedicated to the pediatric population of a preventive and pedagogical nature that can be used at the level of all institutions, in particular school and compulsory, in pediatric hospitals as well as in creating communication and events of Training is aimed at prevention with aspects related to physiology and pediatric pathology at local, territorial level,in the European and non-European context.

Students at the end of the teachingmust be able to apply the theoretical and practical knowledge and must have the skills related to the functions of the profile in the various fields of professional activity, in compliance with the behavioral rules contained in the professional code of ethics enhancing the path of Food Education and prevention.

TEACHING METHODS

The teaching is divided into 10 hours of training activities with classroom lectures on all topics of the program, and 150 hours of project activities and territorial pilot laboratories in place both at the Pediatric Clinic of the University of Genoa and in the Region Liguria as well as with Bodies, Patient Associations, National and International Foundations and GDO (Large Organized Distribution) dedicated to schools and pediatric organizations.

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral exam and written project report.

Required:

- Ability to operate transversely e criticizes the topics covered;

- Correctness, clarity, synthesis and fluidity Public exhibition;

- Mastery of the educational subject and pedagogical methods;

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The learning verification takes place through the final exam which aims to assert the actual acquisition by the student of the expected learning results. Account will be taken of attendance to lessons, participation and adhering to the exercises also planned in the area and the drafting and presentation of a Pediatric Food Education Project.

 

To pass the exam, the student must therefore score a mark of not less than 18/30. The mark of 30/30 with possible honors will be awarded when the knowledge / skills of the subject are excellent.
