The operating methods and the Italian laws concerning the execution of autopsies will be examined. Students have to familiarize with the classification systems, grading and staging of neoplasms and with the clinical-pathological diagnostic procedures of the most frequent neoplasms. Finally, the main ancillary techniques used in pathology lab will be treated. TEACHING METHODS The lessons are carried out with the aid of slides and films (the latter for the part concerning the autopsy and the macroscopic examination of the organs). Discussion and active participation of students during lessons is encouraged with examples taken from clinical practice which they may have had access during internship activities. The teaching material used during lessons is provided to students via Aulaweb Unige to complement the recommended textbooks. Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. The student will have to identify the correct answer among the 3 proposed answers. For the written tests, the LAP (Acceptable level of performance) is: 9 (the student must have correctly answered at least 9 questions out of the 15 total). ASSESSMENT METHODS The quiz questions are developed with the aim of evaluating the cognitive learning of basic knowledge on the topics addressed in the classroom and described in the course program.
