The application of the Kyoto Protocol mechanisms the Paris Agreement and the EU Emission Trading System (2003/87/CE) will be discussed. Calculation and monitoring methodologies of the greenhouse gases for production plants under the Eu-ETS directive application will be analysed. Moreover general strategies of mitigation and adaptation will be introduced, using exercises and specific case studies AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES Il corso fornisce le competenze di base sui cambiamenti climatici, sul comportamento dei gas serra nell'atmosfera e negli oceani e sui principali impatti conseguenti al cambiamento climatico. Vengono inoltre analizzate le strategie di mitigazione e adattamento, in accordo all'Accordo di Parigi, al Green Deal Europeo e all'Emission Trading System europeo EU-ETS. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The objectives of the course are aimed at acquiring specific skills in the climate change related topics. The course is mainly aimed at transferring basic knowledge and skills about the climate change mechanism, the strategies of mitigation and of greenhouse gases emissions reduction, the measures of adaptation that can be implemented to protect the population and the environment. Outside the normal periods of the Polytechnic School, no further exam sessions will be held, with the exception of students without teaching activities in their current academic year curriculum. ASSESSMENT METHODS The exam will consist in the elaboration and presentation of a synthetic calculation of greenhouse gas emissions made by the student on one of the topics discussed in class and in an oral exam related to the contents discussed in the course.
