CODE 107805 ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 CREDITS 3 cfu anno 1 TECNOLOGIE INDUSTRIALI 11429 (L-P03) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ING-IND/31 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 3° Bimonthly TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW This subject aims to provide basic elements of electrical circuit theory: fundamental electrical components and analysis of elementary linear circuits at stationary and sinusoidal steady-state. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The student will know the characteristics of the main linear electric components, he/she will know how to apply the topological and constitutive equations to analyze linear circuit at stationary and sinusoidal steady state, single-phase and three-phase. Moreover, the student will understand how to use the circuits for modelling power grids and electrical converters. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of this subject, the student is expected to know the characteristics of the main electrical components. He/she will be able to correctly apply the descriptive and topological equations to analyze a linear, time-invariant circuit at DC and AC steady-state. PREREQUISITES None. TEACHING METHODS Classroom lectures (24 hours). During the lessons, in addition to the explanation of the theoretical concepts, the teacher will solve exercises about circuit analysis. Students who have valid certification of physical or learning disabilities on file with the University and who wish to discuss possible accommodations or other circumstances regarding lectures, coursework and exams, should speak both with the instructor and with Professor Federico Scarpa (federico.scarpa@unige.it), the Polytechnic School's disability liaison. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Voltage, current, flux, charge, electrical energy and power. Electrical component (bipole, n-pole, two-port), Kirchhoff laws. Fundamental adynamical bipoles and two-port (resistor, ideal generator, controlled generator, ideal transformer); series and parallel connection of bipoles. Resistive dividers, Thévenin and Norton equivalent models of composite bipoles; analysis of linear circuits at DC steady state. Superposition principle; Tellegen's theorem. Fundamental dynamical components (capacitor, inductor, and coupled inductors). Analysis of linear circuits in AC steady-state; phasors; impedance and admittance; complex power; triphase systems; mean and RMS value of periodic quantities. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY - M.
