AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

In particular, the objective is, starting from the detailed analysis of some industrial chemical plants and processes currently used, to provide the student with the necessary notions to be able to evaluate the motivations for the process configurations that can be used for the production of intermediates and chemical products.Overall, the student will acquire the ability to evaluate the reasons for the technical choices of existing processes and possible innovative technologies.

Classroom presentation.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Some of the current refinery, petrochemical, chemical and metallurgy processes are briefly described. The technological innovations envisaged to achieve decarbonisation and industrial sustainability are illustrated. In particular, the production and use of green hydrogen, fuel cells, batteries for electric vehicles, photovoltaic panels, wind farms, bioplastics, biofuels and hydrogen reduced steel (HRI) are critically discussed.

The exam will consist of a written dissertation on a topic proposed by the teacher concerning the subjects covered in the course
