CODE 108375 ACADEMIC YEAR 2024/2025 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 3 MEDIA, COMUNICAZIONE E SOCIETÀ 11417 (L-20) - SAVONA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR M-GGR/01 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION SAVONA SEMESTER 2° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The course aims to provide an overview of the basic knowledge of geography and the theoretical-methodological skills to understand geographic and socio-economic issues of a complex nature, with reference to the different orientations of contemporary geographies AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide students with conceptual tools useful to understand the complexity of the concept of territory, understood as a pivotal factor in the human project to live on planet Earth. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to stimulate the acquisition of theoretical-conceptual and methodological-applicative skills with reference to the different orientations of contemporary geography. In addition, it aims to transmit a basic capacity for critical reading and use of maps. PREREQUISITES General basics of geography TEACHING METHODS Teaching will be organised alternating between face-to-face and participatory teaching. Frontal teaching will be aimed at the identification and understanding of basic knowledge; participatory teaching will be based on problem-based strategies aimed at stimulating the ability to analyse some problems related to territorial processes that characterise contemporaneity. The materials used during the lectures will be uploaded on AulaWeb together with other materials (reports, links to databases, etc.) aimed at deepening some specific topics. ASSESSMENT METHODS The oral examination - will assess knowledge of the topics covered in the lectures and in the study texts; - will test the ability to think critically about territorial, landscape and environmental processes. The assessment will take into account - appropriate knowledge of the disciplinary vocabulary - capacity for critical reasoning; - ability to make connections between the various topics covered.
