The teaching unit explores both strategic and operational aspects of production and logistics functions.
The course analyses the operations management, with specific reference to operations strategy, planning, and control.
The teaching unit aims to provide students with an overview of medium-long term and current management decisions taken by company management in the areas of production and logistics, and the tools to analyse, critically comment on, and solve practical case studies.
Expected learning outcomes (Dublin descriptors):
- Knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to describe the main theoretical models of strategic and operational analysis of operations, in relation to proposed business cases.
- Applying knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to apply theoretical models to basic case studies, solving practical problems in production and logistics.
- Making judgements: The student will be able to critically comment on the proposed solutions, justifying the choices made in relation to the presented business context.
Knowledge of the basic concepts of Economics and Business management.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT
Written and oral assessment during the official exam sessions. No intermediate tests are scheduled.
The exam consists of a written and oral test covering all topics in the program. Students are explicitly required to use real or hypothetical examples to demonstrate mastery of the theoretical tools studied. The assessment takes into account knowledge of the topics, the ability to connect different topics, the correct use of technical terminology, and the ability to apply theoretical models to practical cases, in line with the declared learning outcomes.
