CODE 114731 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 10 cfu anno 1 BIOLOGIA ED ECOLOGIA MARINA 11952 (LM-6 R) - GENOVA TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA MODULES Questo insegnamento è composto da: DIVERSITY AND PHYLOGENY OF MARINE INVERTEBRATES EVOLUTION OF MARINE VERTEBRATES OVERVIEW The course "Evolution of Marine Organisms" covers in detail the evolution of the main phyla of marine animals with in-depth studies on some systems and apparatuses. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide students with knowledge about the biodiversity of marine organisms. This will enable them to understand why they are diverse and to identify them, at least at the phylum level. The course will also address the phylogenetic relationships between classes of marine invertebrates and vertebrates, and the major adaptations that have characterized their evolution, in light of the results achieved through molecular biology and developmental genetics, and the evidence provided by morphology and paleontology. All of this will equip the student with the ability to contextualize marine animal biodiversity from an evolutionary perspective. PREREQUISITES There are no specific requirements.
