OVERVIEW

The course gives the students the opportunity of complementing their plan of study with further knowledge and activities, relevant for the overall outcome of the course of study, depending on their personal interests.

Acquiring additional useful knowledge on elements of enterprise culture, skill activities, basics of program management, as well as on personal interests related to the Master degree topics through research seminar attendance

PREREQUISITES

No specific prerequisites.

TEACHING METHODS

Class lectures for the first activity.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Each student must complete two activities.

The first is a soft skills component involving attendance at a 2-3 day Scientific Writing and Public Speaking Camp, held annually, which focuses on writing scientific reports and presenting results.

The second involves choosing a scientific activity worth about 2 CFU, such as taking courses outside the study plan, attending short courses online or in person, participating in a Datathon, completing a supervised project or review paper, or contributing to research lab work. All choices require approval by the DSE-AUK committee. For final assessment, students must submit a video up to 10 minutes long presenting their chosen activity and reflecting on what they learned, applying the public speaking skills acquired.

Non-Italian students enrolled before 2024 have an optional activity involving attendance at the CLAT Italian course with certification.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Students have to attend (parts of) classes and research seminars or carry out activities, preliminarily selected by the committee, taking into account the student plan of study and interests.

Depending on the specific activity, written or oral communications (in the form of short videos) have also to be produced.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Class certificates are required to assess the student participation to the selected seminars and activities.  Written and oral communications help in better assessing the level of understanding of specific topics.
