The course aims to equip students with the analytical tools necessary to understand and make informed financial decisions within a corporation. The course focuses on key areas such as investment appraisal, capital structure, and financial analysis. Students will learn to evaluate investment opportunities using techniques like Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR), applying the time value of money principle. They will also explore capital structure decisions, understanding the trade-offs between debt and equity financing, and assess the impact of these decisions on firm value. Through theoretical and empirical lectures, practical exercises, and case studies, students will develop the ability to analyze financial statements, assess risk and return, and estimate the cost of capital.
Students who have valid certification of physical or learning disabilities and who wish to discuss possible accommodations or other circumstances regarding lectures, coursework and exams, should speak both with the instructor and with Professor Elena Lagomarsino elena.lagomarsino@unige.it, the Department's disability liaison.
