The course promotes the ability to critically and reflectively analyze complex professional situations, guiding students toward ethical responsibility and awareness of their operational and relational choices in their future professional practice. Deepen and critically discuss the ethical and deontological principles governing the psychological profession.Competently and autonomously apply the principles of the Code of Ethics to various operational and relational situations.Identify, analyze, and manage ethical dilemmas and potential violations of the code, adopting a reflective and responsible approach. Understand disciplinary procedures and the legal aspects related to the profession. Develop mature ethical awareness oriented toward respect for individuals and the protection of the psychologist’s professional dignity. PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of clinical psychology, personality psychology, research methodology, and professional legislation in psychology. TEACHING METHODS Lectures integrated with discussion and critical debate. Analysis of clinical and professional cases, exercises on ethical dilemmas, and simulations of deontological decision-making. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Ethical foundations of the psychological profession: principles, values, and the psychologist’s social responsibility. Critical analysis of the Code of Ethics of Italian Psychologists: structure, areas of application, and interpretation of main articles. Ethics of the professional relationship: boundaries, power, trust, confidentiality, and informed consent. Deontology in different professional contexts: clinical, healthcare, educational, legal, organizational, research, and new technologies. Violations of the Code of Ethics and disciplinary proceedings of the professional association: structure, functions, and sanctions. The ethics of responsibility and the promotion of professional quality.
