OVERVIEW

 

Participation in this workshop stimulates the acquisition of those skills useful to monitor the development of boys and girls in the 0-3 range through observational method

 

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The laboratory aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills to use some observational tools for providing information on several specific domains of development in children aged 0-3 years.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the workshop, students are expected to be able to: 

- distinguish among different types of observation;

- plan an observational project; 

- set up an observation sheet;

- use a standardized tool to monitor diverse developmental domains;

- use the information obtained from the observation work to plan interventions aiming at supporting children's development.

 

TEACHING METHODS

- Brief frontal lesson;

- Cooperative learining; 

- Video watching;

- Analysis and discussion on specific cases.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The program includes the study of topics related to free and guided observation and observation-related biases; observation tools (e.g., observation sheets, checklists, and standardized scales).
