AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

-To provide students with the knowledge of the basics and the main applications of the treatments for the psychiatric rehabilitation in the community with reference to the evidence based practice

- To introduce the main applications of treatments in rehabilitation psychiatry according to evidence based practice

-To provide basic knowledge to do a behavioural assessment for rehabilitation purposes

-To introduce some interventions based on behavioural approach , in particular for community rehabilitation: exposure, token economy modelling

-To introduce the general theoretical model of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy and the specific model of Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Phobias, OCD, Panic Disorder, Psychosis, Substance Disorders

-To give elements useful for a basic assessment following the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in order to build  a rehabilitation plan

-To provide the students with the main principles of the theoretical model of “Third wave” Behavioural therapies

-To introduce the main principles for a  basic assessment and interventions following the “third wave “ behavioural Therapies approach

LEARNING OUTCOMES

 

.-    To have knowledge of the main treatments used in Rehabilitation Psychiatry

  • To recognize the differentiating characteristics amongst the three main kind of  CBT
  • To apply the main principles of CBT to clinical problems
  • To critically evaluate the different types of CBT
  • To know the main principles of the three main CBT
  • To acquire the knowledge of and use appropriately the CBT technical terminology
  • To compare the different interventions in CBT
  • To classify the different therapies that are part of the third wave CBT
  • To plan possible  clinical interventions CBT based

 

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

  • Evidence based practice: main treatments and the use of interventions for Community Rehabilitation based on research and international guidelines
  • Basis for a behavioural assessment: Functional Analysis (ABC), data and information gathering trough the use of adequate tools
  • Basis for behavioural intervention, in particular for the Community Rehabilitation: exposure, token economy modelling
  • The theoretical model of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy
  • The theoretical model of Cognitive and Behavioural Therapy for specific Disorders: Anxiety Disorders, Depression, Phobias, OCD, Panic Disorder, Psychosis, Substance Disorders
  • Basic Elements for a Cognitive and Behavioural Assessment and interventions in the Community: the Cognitive ABC, the CBT Assessment, other interventions
  • The basic knowledge of the theoretical model of “Third wave” Behavioural therapies: ACT, DBT, MBCT and BA
  • Basic interventions following the “third wave “ behavioural Therapies approach, in particular following the ACT model. Mindfulness an introduction
