OVERVIEW

The Intensive Design teaching consists of modules: Intensive Design 1.1 and Intensive Design 1.2 with an integrated and complementary syllabus run with external input from the shipbuilding industry. Please refer to the individual modules for specific contents.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The integrated course consists of the modules: Intensive Design 1-1 and Intensive Design 1-2. The objectives of the two modules contribute to the final teaching objectives by addressing a specific case study in collaboration with the main shipyards in the area according to themes suggested by the shipyards themselves as relevant to the development of the sector.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Working groups are made by Italian and American studens combined together. The activity starts with a visit to a shipyard to introduce the case study of the course. In the following days all groups are workong in the class to solve their designs. Every evening a 10 minutes presentation per any group is checking the work.

Final presentation will introduce a 10 minute multimedia production.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Every year treats a different study case.

The choice follows the most updated requirements of the world of the cruise market and/or superyacht interiors.

The first approach is to understand the field of work and the possible sources.

Then any group points out matierials, building methodologies, and solutions.

After every group propose their solutions in terms of interior designs.

Finally every group set ups their presentations and perform their show.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The final evaluation of the teaching is given by the average of the evaluations gained within the two modules (3 cfu + 3 cfu) that make up the teaching itself. The final exam will not be passed until the student has passed the exam of both modules and recorded the final average.

The average of a daily evaluation with the final presentation discussed within a board of teachers.
