At the end of the teaching unit, the student will be able to:
The teaching unit consists of participatory lectures led by the instructor, focused on the processing and production of blood components. Synchronous interaction tools will be used to actively engage students, promote reflection, and encourage information sharing. To make the learning experience more engaging and interactive, cooperative learning will be encouraged through guided creation of mind maps, resolution of a Case-Based Learning (CBL) activity, and a debate to develop argumentative, critical thinking, and communication skills. To support the acquisition of essential knowledge for the internship in a blood component production and processing laboratory, audiovisual materials will be used to enhance inclusion and facilitate the learning process.
Students with certified Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), disabilities, or other educational needs are encouraged to contact the course instructor and the School/Department Disability Coordinator at the beginning of the course to agree on appropriate teaching methods that respect the course objectives and individual learning styles.

Competency assessment will be conducted through an oral examination covering the topics discussed in class and aligned with the defined learning objectives.
Students with certified Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), disabilities, or other educational needs are invited to contact the instructor to agree on individual assessment methods that respect the intended learning outcomes.
The oral exam will evaluate the student's ability to describe the organization of a blood component processing and production laboratory, outline the related procedures, list, compare, and differentiate the characteristics of blood components, and explain the biological validation systems and tests required to ensure the production of safe and effective blood components.
Furthermore, the exam will assess the student’s ability to use technical-scientific language appropriate to the context.
Passing the exam certifies the acquisition of the following transversal competencies available to students as UniBadges: Advanced literacy 1; Basic social skills 1; Basic personal skills 1; Basic project development 1 – A.
Passing the exam is conditional upon meeting the minimum criteria defined by the expected learning outcomes.
