An internship at organizations or companies is a tool that allows students to gain experience in the working world.
The internship is optional and corresponds to a variable number of credits, from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 6 credits; each credit corresponds to approximately one week of work at the host company (25 hours).
An internship consists of a period of continuous full-time work at an affiliated institution or company. Each full-time week (or equivalently 25 hours) will be counted as 1 CFU.
With an internship at organizations or companies, the student has the opportunity to use the modeling and analytical skills acquired throughout their entire educational path and to begin developing the competencies and professionalism necessary for their future career.
The steps to follow are:
The internship program will be agreed upon with the chosen organization/company.
Ricevimento: On appointment
The start of the internship is agreed upon between the student and the organization/company.
The timetable for this course is available here: EasyAcademy
At the end of the internship, the student is required to submit a written report (approximately two to four pages in length) that describes the topic covered and the tasks performed. A template can be found on the course's Aulaweb site. At this point, the Committee will evaluate the work done (they may request corrections to the report) and will proceed with the recording of the credits.
The internship evaluation aims to verify the effective achievement of the expected learning outcomes, particularly assessing:
1. Ability to apply theoretical skills: The final report will allow evaluation of how the student has successfully applied the mathematical modeling and analysis skills acquired during the degree program in the real working context at the host organization/company.
2. Development of professional skills: Through the description of the tasks performed and the overall experience, the student's ability to develop the skills and professionalism necessary for entering the job market will be evaluated.
3. Analytical and critical thinking skills: The report must demonstrate the student's ability to critically analyze the experience, connecting the theoretical aspects learned with the practical applications encountered.
Assessment criteria:
The Internship and Professional Modules Committee will evaluate the final report and may request additional information or corrections before credit registration, to ensure that all educational objectives have been effectively achieved.
