CODE 111620 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 1 CHIMICA E TECNOLOGIA FARMACEUTICHE 11948 (LM-13 R) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR CHIM/02 TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: PHYSICS AND PHYSICAL CHEMISTRY (INTEGRATED COURSE) AIMS AND CONTENT AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Attendance and active participation in the training activities proposed in the physical chemistry module, together with the individual study will allow the student to: - know the basic concepts of classical thermodynamics and chemical kinetics; - develop a critical approach towards problems relating to the thermodynamics and kinetics of chemical and physical processes; - develop the use of an adequate language to describe and discuss the proposed concepts. TEACHING METHODS The module consists of 48 hours mainly composed of frontal lessons in which the theory is exposed and application examples are proposed. The slides presented during the lesson are uploaded to Aulaweb and remain available to the student. Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department ( Prof. Luca Raiteri, Luca.Raiteri@unige.it ) before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific learning methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes. VERY IMPORTANT: any request for compensatory tools and adaptations in the exam MUST be done within 10 working days before the date of the exam according to the instructions that can be found at https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa/comunicazioni SYLLABUS/CONTENT -) Perfect gases and real gases. -) Classical thermodynamics: first, second and third law of thermodynamics; the concepts of internal energy, enthalpy, entropy, free energy; reversibility and irreversibility. The chemical equilibrium. -) Ideal solutions, ideal dilute, real, regular, electrolytic solutions. -) Chemical kinetics. -) Reaction dynamics: collision theory and activated complex theory. -) Enzymatic catalysis. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY All the slides used during the lessons will be available on Aulaweb starting from the day of the lesson. In general, the notes taken during the lessons and the material on Aulaweb are sufficient for exam preparation. However, it is advisable to consult one or more physical chemistry texts to deepen and consolidate the concepts. Some titles are suggested below: "Physical chemistry", Atkins (Zanichelli) "Physical chemistry", Chang (Zanichelli) TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD CRISTINA ARTINI Ricevimento: Always, by appointment. LESSONS LESSONS START Lessons will begin in the first week of the second semester. Class schedule The timetable for this course is available here: Portale EasyAcademy
