The course, aimed at students on the degree courses in Humanities, History and Modern Literature and Performing Arts, consists of 60 hours of lectures, equivalent to 9 cfu. Students on the Humanities degree course who choose 6 cfu of the subject must attend only the first 40 h of the course.

It introduces the student to the study of the literary movements, works and fundamental authors of Spanish fiction between the 19th and 21st centuries.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to deepen the historical coordinates of Spanish literature, paying particular attention to interpretative and critical elements. The specific subject of the course is Spanish fiction (novel and short story) set in the social and political context of the country.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to provide an overview of the main literary movements that crossed Spain between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 21st century. Considering the very close links that political history and literary history had in 20th century Spain, part of the course will be devoted to an in-depth study of the main historical events of the period in question (Cuban War, Civil War, Franchism, Democratic Transition).

At the end of the course, the student will know how to read, contextualise and relate a Spanish literary text and the historical-cultural environment in which it was generated.
