CODE 108757 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 10 cfu anno 2 INGEGNERIA DELL'ENERGIA 11438 (L-9) - SAVONA LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION SAVONA MODULES Questo insegnamento è composto da: MECHANICS APPLIED TO MACHINES MEASUREMENTS AND INSTRUMENTATION TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The course aims at providing the students with the tools needed for studying the most relevant mechanical components for the engineering field and at introducing them to the measurement of the main physical quantities involved in their application. Students will therefore be provided with the basic tools for modeling and analyzing mechanical systems. Particularly, the mechanics applied to machines module presents the fundamentals of machine mechanics, taking into consideration both aspects related to the application of the principles of mechanics to the analysis of mechanisms, mechanical transmissions and machines, and morphological and functional aspects of the main components which they are based on. The measurement and instrumentation module will introduce the functioning and operation principles of common instruments for engineering applications, the measurement principles, and basics of statistical analysis. The course will provide general criteria to select simple measurement systems for a given application, based on different physical measurement principles, on the uncertainty analysis, the signal conditioning, and the data recording. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The teaching unit is made of two modules: applied mechanics and measurements and instrumentation. The module of applied mechanics provides knowledge on: kinematics and dynamics of mechanisms; power flow in the mechanisms; vibrations; balancing; fluid drives; variators; joints; grafts; brakes; basic standards of industrial technical design. The module of measurements and instrumentation provides an operational understanding of the fundamentals of measurement, including methods of static and dynamic analysis, uncertainty assessment, calibrations, components, signal conditioning and the measurement of mechanical and thermal quantities. The necessary notions of probability and statistics are provided PREREQUISITES There are no specific requirements TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD PAOLO SILVESTRI Ricevimento: By appointment: mail to p.silvestri@unige.it MARTA BERARDENGO Ricevimento: By appointment: marta.berardengo@unige.it EXAMS EXAM DESCRIPTION The examination related to the teaching unit will be based on an oral test for the applied machine mechanics module while on a written test for the measurements and instrumentation module. The assessment of the whole teaching unit will be the average of the evaluation of the individual modules. Agenda 2030 - Sustainable Development Goals Quality education
