AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Be able to autonomously manage enteral nutritional access.

Know in detail the indications, methods of administration, limits and complications of nutritional support, enteral nutrition and parenteral nutrition.

TEACHING METHODS

The course is divided into 20 hours of training activities structured as follows:

 

 • Frontal theoretical lessons

 • Simulations

 • Watching videos

• Problem solving

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, shall reach out to the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liase and arrange the specific teaching methods and ensure proper achievement of the learning aims and outcomes.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The course provides the student with the knowledge and skills to be able to:

  • participate in the organizational and operational decisions of the Nutrition Team
  • identify the patient destined for NE and data collection
  • ensure adequate nutritional intake for the patient by drawing up a personalized nutritional plan
  • monitor the patient during NE
  • reduce and manage complications
  • • contain costs with reference to: correct choice, purchase and conservation of products, choice and duration of treatment

educate the patient and the caregiver in case of Home Enteral Nutrition
