OVERVIEW

Discover the importance of nutrition in shaping the health and well-being of mothers, babies and in the post menopausal age.
The course will provide you with the knowledge and skills to optimize and improve nutrition during the crucial phases of life.
You will explore the latest research, evidence-based practices, and practical strategies to support healthy growth and development, and to address nutritional issues in many clinical situations

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Understand the role of diet in maintaining health and supporting physiological functions.

• Analyze the physiological changes related to pregnancy and menopause.

• Be able to adapt nutrition to the specific needs of women in different stages of life.

The effective acquisition of such knowledge and skills will be verified through the examination process, which may include case studies and practical exercises 

TEACHING METHODS

Teaching methods of The diet in human physiology, pregnancy, and menopause course are aimed at guaranteeing the effective acquisition of knowledge and the development of practical skills.
The teaching is divided into 20 hours of training activities and includes theoretical-frontal lessons, exercises, case studies
-Lectures: These sessions provide a comprehensive theoretical overview of the course topics and concepts. They will concern the treatment of the nutritional needs healthy patients with pathologies in the various stages of human age.
-Clinical case hands-on exercises: provide the opportunity for interactive discussions, clarification of doubts, and focus on specific topics, so students can apply their knowledge and skills. Practical experience in assessing the nutritional status, analyzing dietary patterns and designing personalized dietary approaches will be implemented.
Students can engage in active learning, ask questions and receive guidance from the teacher. The case simulate real-life scenarios, enabling students to analyze complex nutritional issues, problem solving and critical thinking skills will be developed in developing appropriate dietary interventions
- Teamwork: Collaborative teamwork improves communication skills. Students will work in teams to analyze and discuss case studies, share ideas and develop effective strategies for managing nutrition-related challenges in this field

-Students are strongly encouraged to attend all educational activities to fully benefit from the interactive nature of the course. It is recommended that you demonstrate thorough understanding and active participation in practical exercises, case discussions

EXAM DESCRIPTION

This course uses the oral exam as a tool for evaluating student learning.
During this testing, students will be assessed on their understanding of course content, including knowledge of nutritional needs, assessment methods, dietary interventions, and management of patients.
Students can be asked questions on various topics, such as nutritional needs of healthy patients, specific nutritional considerations, assessment techniques, development of personalized dietary approaches.
The specific topics and questions posed during the oral exam may vary according to the discretion of the teacher. Students are encouraged to study all relevant course materials and be prepared to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of the subject.
It is important to contact the teacher for any further details or specific needs regarding the exam methods.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The verification of learning will be conducted through a final oral exam, aimed at ascertaining the student's understanding of the contents of the course and his ability to apply the acquired knowledge and skills.
During the exam, the student will be assessed on his knowledge and understanding of the nutritional needs , identification of nutritional status, setting of personalized dietary approaches and other relevant topics outlined in the educational objectives.
The student must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the topic, including the ability to apply knowledge for problem.
To pass the exam and obtain a grade of at least 18/30, the student must demonstrate:
-Expertise in knowledge and understanding of nutritional needs of patients.
- Demonstrated understanding of concepts, theories and principles related to mutrition in this field
As a contribution to the final assessment, the student's ability to deal with the required topics in a transversal and critical way will be considered.
Correctness, clarity, synthesis and expository fluidity in answering the questions will be evaluated.
Subject matter mastery will be assessed, including depth of knowledge and understanding.
The use of appropriate terminology and linguistic proficiency will be taken into account.

A score of 30/30 with possible honors will be assigned when the student demonstrates excellent knowledge and skills in the subject, exceeding the expected learning outcomes
