OVERVIEW

The course aims to develop skills in the field of Clinical Biochemistry and applicable Clinical Chemistry Techniques.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquire fundamental, basic and specialist knowledge on: the main metabolic pathways - mechanisms regulating the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins; structure and function of proteins; enzymology intermediate carbohydrate, lipid and nitrogen metabolism mechanism of action of acid/base balance hormones function markers and injury. Acquire clinical information on: alterations in glucose, lipid and nitrogenous compounds - clinical significance of liver and kidney function parameters. Methods of determination of electrophoretic laboratory techniques of serum proteins and urine, giving evidence of the interpretation of the graphs in the main methods; serum and urinary immunofixation with interpretation of results Know laboratory techniques of electrophoretic techniques of serum proteins and urine; Production of radioactive precursors (radioisotopes 18F -11C - 13N) through the use of a circular particle accelerator (cyclotron); preparation of the radiopharmaceutical preparation for clinical purposes, execution of quality controls for the release of the radiopharmaceutical (injectability for the execution of PET imaging diagnostics). Environmental validation aspects for the processing of radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with regulations (Mediafill test and microbiological validations); The Immunometry Techniques course aims to describe the main technical methods used to carry out immunometry tests both with manual methodology and with automatic instruments. The dilution techniques most used in the analysis laboratory are also illustrated
