AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The biochemical,ecological, epidemiological and pathological aspects of parasites in general will first be reviewed, and then we will move on to a detailed discussion of the different parasites of humans by examining their respective cycles of development, spread, pathogenic action and related host reaction, diagnostic methodologies and guidance on preventive strategies. TEACHING METHODS Teaching consists of 10 hours of face-to-face lectures on all topics in the program. These topics are illustrated by the lecturer through PowerPoint presentations that are shared on Aulaweb. In the case of Health Emergency, lectures may be conducted remotely in telematic mode using the Teams platform and in any case according to University guidelines. Attendance at lectures is compulsory, as per the Teaching Regulations. Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs), disabilities or other educational needs are invited to contact the teacher and the School/Departmental Disability Liaison at the beginning of the course to agree on possible teaching arrangements that, while respecting the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning patterns. Through the discussion of various topics, the Commission verifies the achievement of the educational objectives set forth in the teaching. During the examination, the regulations regarding the mode of evaluation of students certified DSA or other educational needs indicated by the university will be observed. (e.g.: additional time in case of written examinations, use of concept maps to be viewed for approval by teachers at least one week before the examination date). In case of Health Emergency or weather alert, exams may be conducted remotely in telematic mode using the Teams platform and otherwise according to University guidelines. At the end of the interview, the faculty members of the committee formulate a final grade that is derived from the candidate's overall judgment. ASSESSMENT METHODS Verification of learning takes place through the final oral examination which aims to ascertain the student's actual acquisition of the expected learning outcomes. In order to pass the exam, the student must correctly answer three questions pertaining to the exam program. In order to pass the exam, a sufficient answer will be required for each of the topics covered in the questions. The following elements will contribute to the final mark: ability to critically discuss the requested topics; accurancy, clarity, synthesis and fluency; competence in the subject; correct use of terminology.
