AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the course, the student will: • know the main roles and functions of health systems; • recognize the main determinants of functioning; TEACHING METHODS TEACHING METHODS The course consists of interactive and frontal lessons, with slides illustrating and exemplifying the contents related to the course. Other working tools such as supplementary texts, diagrams, concept maps, images, etc., will also be used. Definitions The context. The great economic, demographic, epidemiological changes. Healthcare system concept. Components (structure) and objectives (outcomes) of health systems. Observation perspectives 2. Models of resource allocation and interdependence between systems Evolution of epidemiological needs and changes in care models. Curative medicine and preventive healthcare. Primary Care / Secondary Care. Proximity healthcare. 3. Models of organization and management of care Evolution of epidemiological needs and changes in organizational models of care. Different needs are met with different responses. The example of large-scale distribution. "Generalist" hospitals and hospitals by intensity of care. The hub-and-spoke model. 4. Models of competency organization Performance appraisal systems, competency development systems, clinical safety systems.
