OVERVIEW

The course aims to delve into the aspects of psychological interest in physical and sporting activity, both at an individual and group level. Peculiar topics will be examined, including: the analysis and monitoring of psychological responses in training and competition; the correlation between personality and performance etc.

This teaching module delves into the aspects most closely related to the dynamics of sporting activity in its basic and competitive aspects.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The main aim of the course is to provide the student with the main notions of sports psychology, dealing with the fundamental psychological issues relating to individual and team sports. The course aims to delve into the aspects of psychological interest in physical and sporting activity, both at an individual and group level. Peculiar topics will be examined, including: the analysis and monitoring of psychological responses in training and competition; the correlation between personality and performance etc.

TEACHING METHODS

Theoretical lessons in hall (didactic teaching).

In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, please contact both the Department contact person, Prof. Nicola Girtler, and the lecturer at the beginning of the lectures to agree on teaching and exam methods which, in compliance of the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory/dispensatory tools recognized by the University SLD Student Service.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Elements of Sports Psychology: Sports Psychology, movement and sports activity, movement and sport, emotion and sport, motivation and sport, competitive spirit - psychological schools and models of thought in Sports Psychology - methods of Sports Psychology - Psychology of individual sports and team: training styles - sports psychological skills: ability to set and pursue goals and objectives, control and management of psychic energy and stress, ability to concentrate - elements of clinical psychology in the sports field and intervention models: conflict, frustration , performance anxiety, stress, Sports psychotherapy.
