Child Neuropsychiatry is a medical discipline that studies all neurological and psychiatric pathologies of the developmental age, and how these problems develop in a completely peculiar way in developmental age and in different maturational periods. After a brief excursus on the psychomotor and emotional development of the child, the essential diagnostic elements on the most frequent neurological pathologies and their management are outlined.
- Learning basic aetiologic and clinical principles about epilepsy, cognitive disability, cerebral palsy.
- Identify and treat psychological and behavioural problems related to Autistic, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, behavioutal disorders, during infancy, and adolescence.
- Learning general principles about integrated treatment and management, in team work.
Teacher led lectures - clinical case discussion.
In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, please contact both the Department contact person, Prof. Nicola Girtler, and the lecturer at the beginning of the lectures to agree on teaching and exam methods which, in compliance of the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory/dispensatory tools recognized by the University SLD Student Service.
