The current disciplines will be examined in the light of EU law and particularly in a historical perspective. Meetings with labor consultants may be organized, during the course or at the end (optional, in this case), to inform about the profession and to show the practical application of the discipline. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to address the institutional elements of labor law and to allow students to acquire basic knowledge relating to union law and labor relations law, reconstructing the complex regulatory system. The course aims to provide basic but critical knowledge of the discipline of labor law, in a historical perspective and attentive to the relationships with the sources of EU law and with related disciplines (sociology of law, sociology of work, history). The methodological approach is aimed at providing students with the essential tools: to understand the dynamics that affect the world of work in our country; for a conscious interpretation and evaluation of national law in light of the principles, rules and policies of work and social policies of the European Union; for a subsequent autonomous updating of a discipline in continuous evolution. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Learning outcomes a. Ability to solve problems: that is, to apply what has been learned in a real situation, identifying the areas of knowledge that best allow it to be addressed b. Analyze and synthesize information: that is, to acquire, organize and reformulate data and knowledge from different sources c. Formulate judgments independently: that is, to interpret information with a critical sense and make consequent decisions d. Communicate effectively: that is, to transmit information and ideas both orally and in writing in a clear and formally correct way, expressing them in terms that are appropriate for specialist or non-specialist interlocutors in the sector e. Learn continuously: that is, to be able to recognize one's own gaps and identify effective strategies aimed at acquiring new knowledge and skills. PREREQUISITES Labour law is a specialist discipline, for learning which it is necessary to have already acquired the basic institutional notions (Italian constitutional law, Italian private law). Very useful, to understand the evolution of the subject, is the knowledge of the Italian history of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as the institutional news of the last twenty years. TEACHING METHODS Classroom teaching "Participated" frontal lessons (allowed by the limited number of people in the classroom), enriched by the discussion of cases with the students (also following the current events of the subject, in continuous evolution), as well as the presentation and public discussion of the short research that the attending students can decide to carry out on topics agreed with the teacher. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The origins and evolution of labour law. Trade unions, collective bargaining, conflict. Subordinate work and self-employment. Equality and non-discrimination. Freedom and dignity of the worker. The powers of the employer and the obligations of the worker. The rights of the worker and the guarantees of those rights. The program for those who will actually attend the course (with the help of the materials appropriately inserted in Aulaweb and the indications of the texts to read and/or study) will be limited to the topics covered in class, with the in-depth studies carried out in the classroom (and possibly in the short research works that the students, if they wish, will agree with the teacher and which will be the subject of presentation and discussion in the classroom and/or during the exam).
