OVERVIEW

For students enrolled in the BSc Degree Program in Naval Architcture and Marine Engineering is essential to undertake a real-world experience in the maritime domain and therefore the teaching program includes a mandatory curricular internship in the study plan.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim is to support students in having a direct exposure to the professional world through a learning experience carried out at companies, public administrations, public or private entities, as well as professional associations, based on specific Agreements.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

For each student, within the framework of an Agreement between the Host Organization and UNIGE, a document called the Training Project is completed. This document outlines the detailed educational objectives, specifying what the student is planned to carry out during the period and what he/she will be able to do at the end of the internship.

PREREQUISITES

To ensure the internship experience is as effective as possible, students are allowed to begin the internship once they have earned 120 credits, with a 10% shortfall tolerance, which must in any case be approved by the coordinator.
Moreover, to start the internship, students must have completed the following courses:

  • The Specific Training Course “Medium Risk Safety,” which is held in-person at a classroom in the Polytechnic School. The scheduled dates and booking procedures are available at the following link

Students are encouraged to check the calendar and register well in advance of the intended internship period.

TEACHING METHODS

During the internship, the student is supported by both a Company Tutor and a University Tutor.
