OVERVIEW

The internship is carried out, in most cases, in the laboratories of the department. Some students carry out training periods in institutions and companies. The internship is often integrated with that of the final exam.

As an alternative, the student can perform "other activities" (approved by the responsible) that improve his/her scientific-technical-professional profile.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

During the internship, the student applies the knowledge and skills acquired in the bachelor program, improves its autonomy of judgment and its communication skills, improves its self-learning and self-assessment skills and, finally, gains useful experience for additional studies or for working experiences.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

During the internship, the student applies the knowledge and skills acquired in the bachelor program, improves its autonomy of judgment and its communication skills, improves its self-learning and self-assessment skills and, finally, gains useful experience for additional studies or for working experiences.

In the case of "other activities", the aim is a growth of the student's scientific-technical-professional profile. The learning outcomes depend on the specific activity carried out.

PREREQUISITES

There are no prerequisites, but usually the internship is taken during the third year, so that it can contribute to refine the training received by the student during the bachelor program.

TEACHING METHODS

In the case of activities carried out in research labs (academic or industrial), the teaching methods are chosen by the advisors, that choose those more suitable for the candidate and for the specific case study.
In the case of "other activities", the teaching methods depend on the student's activity choice.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The contents strictly depend on the activity chosen by the student.
In the case of activities carried out in research labs (academic or industrial), usually knowledges and skills acquired in the bachelor program are applied to a case study. This allows consolidating the student's scientific-technical background and improving his/her decision-making skills with the choice of the tools and methods most suitable for the specific case study. It is required to write a final report, which contributes to improve the student's communication skills, ability to synthesize and other "soft skills" that are not included in specific subjects of the bachelor program.
In the case of "other activities", the content depends on the student's choice.

RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

The final report's template (Word and LaTeX) can be found in the MS Team IETI, channel "General".

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

In the case of activities carried out in research labs, upon completion of the internship (certified by an email communication of the advisor) a simple approval by the teacher responsible for the internships is required.

In the case of "other activities", the teacher responsible for the internships will check the learning outcomes, based on certificates and possibly on oral exam.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

In the case of activities carried out in research labs, the final verification is carried out by the academic tutor/advisor, by checking the progress of the work carried out in the company or in the department.

In the case of "other activities", the teacher responsible for the internships will check the learning outcomes, based on certificates and possibly on oral exam to verify that the activities carried out actually improved the student's scientific-technical-professional profile.
