CODE 98244 ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026 CREDITS 5 cfu anno 2 ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING 10720 (LM-35) - GENOVA LANGUAGE English TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The traineeship is an individual learning experience designed to apply and enhance the theoretical and practical knowledge acquired during the Master's Degree in Environmental Engineering. It may take place within a company, a public body, a research institution, or within the university itself, under the supervision of an internal academic tutor and, when applicable, an external company tutor. The activity must be consistent with the educational objectives of the degree program and approved by the Master Course. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The traineeship aims to: Develop and strengthen practical, technical, and professional skills; Provide direct experience in solving engineering problems in real-world contexts; Enhance students' autonomy, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES At the end of the traineeship, the student will be able to: Apply theoretical knowledge to practical, professional tasks; Operate in multidisciplinary and collaborative environments; Demonstrate increased professional awareness and readiness for the job market or further research. PREREQUISITES No particular prerequisites are required; however, it is strongly recommended that students have completed all required coursework and passed the associated exams foreseen in the study plan, before starting the internship. TEACHING METHODS 125 hours of supervised work experience at a company, public institution, research centre, or university laboratory. SYLLABUS/CONTENT The internship activities may include (but are not limited to): Participation in technical or research projects; Data collection and environmental monitoring; Development of software tools, models, or simulations; Drafting of technical reports and documentation; Attending meetings, site visits, and collaborative work with professionals. The internship must be formalized through a training agreement between the university and the host organization. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Eventually, suggested by the internal academic supervisor and/or external tutor, depending on the internship content. Grading is usually “Pass/Fail” unless otherwise specified in the program's regulations. ASSESSMENT METHODS Validation of the traineeship requires: Fulfillment of the required number of hours (based on ECTS credits); Approval by the academic supervisor; Positive feedback from the host organization (if external). In some cases, the internship may be integrated into or support the development of the Master's thesis.
