The course aims to provide students with specific knowledge of various renewable energy production systems. The course is divided into two modules, the first dedicated to energy sources mainly related to water and air (hydroelectric, wind, waves, currents), while the second is dedicated to sources related to chemical processes such as fuel cells and biomass.
Students are presented with both resource estimates and the types of technologies for converting the resource into electricity that can be used for civil and industrial purposes. For each type of resource, the logical flow of a feasibility analysis of an energy conversion plant is then proposed. Finally, some notions relating to the economic aspects of the competitiveness of the various energy production systems are introduced.
