The course will focus on topics related to the world of Telecommunications, in particular Telecommunication Networks and Signal Theory. The first part will address the basic principles that constitute telecommunications networks, the data exchange techniques and the communication protocols used by the different connected devices. The second part will address the basic principles and techniques used to send and receive data through telecommunication channels.
The student will acquire knowledge relating to telecommunication systems and signals. In particular, about the components of a telecommunication system, representation of signals in the time and frequency domains, principles of signal sampling and quantization, analogue and digital modulations, baseband and passband transmission. The student will also acquire knowledge relating to telecommunication networks. In particular, about the structure, topologies and taxonomy of data communication networks, protocol architectures, and some examples of the main communication protocols.
